Roots
03:33
|
|||
A pair of trees standing above her,
The taller stronger than the other.
The roots are deep and the buds asleep,
A lullaby from our mother.
Ahh ahh, Ill keep you from the stormy sea
Ahh, she sang to me
A cast away sailing above her,
The bold swell rising on the water.
A shanty sings as the sirens ring,
A lullaby from our father.
Chorus
Bridge
By a mirror that’s so hard to face,
Twice the noise and only half the space
Matching colours from the same old view
Now my homes your home too.

She's Fire
03:59
|
|||
I laughed so hard I cried
You gotta let me live for a little while
Why can’t you stay away
Take a back seat to my old ways
She’s fire when I arrive
Burn me with your frozen point of view
She’s lying, I’m not surprised
To return the same old story over due
The bolt is off the door
Made my bed but I’m on the floor
Ohh don’t stay away
Break bread like the old days
I know that you’re broken when you see us like this,
Moments that we've stolen from and broke with our fists,
And even when you’ve spoken and your mind is at risk,
I can't resist...

Prison Robes
03:51
|
|||
We’re never ready for attack
Prison robe upon your back
Her tethered arms, my weary voice
A hundred times among the noise
Cold, dead, light
Fading in the firing line.
Bold and white,
And nothing but an empty smile.
I'll build from the rubble all around your feet
My will to promise what I cannot keep
I'll build a tunnel from your disbelief
Make fire, that only you and I can see
Theres something strange about this town.
I'm playing house with hand-me-downs.
He’s aging grey, and I’m afraid to know.
Beneath the waves time moves slow.
Lets run away, run away, run away now, ohhh...

Marble Arch
03:54
|
|||
Down below the marble arch,
Staring eyes of coal.
She was, first to go and last to part,
Nothing left but crows.
Iron ropes cut through my home,
When she knocks my door.
Weary bones upon the throne,
Draining me once more.
Will she be me, and I be you?
Pausing wars only, to resume.
Though we were thrown right into the fire,
I’ll walk myself right along the wire.
By the lane where many grew,
Memories light as snow.
They did stay among the few,
Tales till morning glow.
Darkness did call upon
Asking them for more than they could give.
And as she screamed her cradle song,
They yelled “This is not how we live...”
